Platform Upgrades

For some time now we have been using SSD RAID internally and we now consider it a stable platform for our hosting. Initially SSD technology, while fast, did not offer reliability on an enterprise level. So now the technology has become stable (and reliable) we are pleased to announce that we've organised a full platform upgrade for all Vorari services. This move brings almost all storage onto RAID 10 and RAID 1 SSD arrays. The result is more than 2x speed increase in data access for all activities. End users can expect a generally more responsive experience - especially those with many mailboxes and large archives. Backup and restore is now an order of magnitude faster and we can very quickly switch between our various cluster nodes.

We are looking to perform the platform upgrade late-evening next week and there will be no loss of emails although DNS will be updated so there may be some lag as ISP's catch up with the change. All users should find their service working as normal the next morning but we will also be watching everything very closely to ensure a smooth transition. This upgrade also comes at a time when Vorari are expanding services together with Zentyal to include new native Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory integration so it will help ensure we delivery a fast and efficient service for now and moving forwards.
